What is keyword research?

Keyword research is a practice used in search engine optimisation and marketing to find and analyse the search terms people enter into the search engines when conducting a search. Keyword research takes market research one step further. Market research will establish who the audience is and where they come from & go but keyword research will establish what they are looking for online and what words they type in to find it.
 

Why is keyword research so important?
